Academic Studies Abroad Program |
ASA cannot accept applications from outside the United States or Canada. All classes and programs are at the undergraduate level. Note to pre-college applicants: Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, for certain programs. The eligiblity rules below will tell you which programs pre-college students are eligible to apply for. All GPA requirements listed below are for current college students and college graduates. In addition to the regular application requirements and documents, for pre-college applicants, we generally look for a higher GPA than the minimum and ask for 2 letters of recommendation plus a letter of intent, in an effort to ensure maturity and academic preparation for a college program. All pre-college applicants are encouraged to speak with an ASA representative about their options! Buenos Aires, Argentina - Universidad de Belgrano (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Australia - Walkabout Program (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have graduated from high school. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. Viña del Mar, Chile - Universidad de Viña del Mar (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. London, England - Regent's College, Regent's American College London (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have completed at least one semester of study at a U.S. university, college, or community college. Students who have already graduated are not eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. Oxford, England - Oxford Brookes University (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have completed at least one semester of study at a U.S. university, college, or community college. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.0. Aix-en-Provence, France - Le Centre d'Aix and The Marchutz School of Art (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of French. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 8 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Avignon, France - Le Centre d'Avignon (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Must have completed at least one semester of study at a U.S. university, college or community college. Must have an advanced level of French. Must have completed 4 semesters of college French (or equivalent) and have at least a 3.0 GPA in that field. All applicants must submit 1 letter of recommendation from a French professor as well as a 500-word essay written in French. Requires 8 passport photos. Paris, France - Institut Catholique de Paris (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Dublin, Ireland - Griffith College Dublin (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have completed at least one semester of study at a U.S. university, college, or community college. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. Florence, Italy - The Institute at Palazzo Rucellai (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Italian. Must have completed at least two semesters of study at a U.S. university, college, or community college. Students who have already graduated are not eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 6 passport photos. GPA MUST BE 2.75 OR HIGHER (firm). Rome, Italy - John Cabot University (Summer/Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated from high school. Open to students with any level of Italian. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 4 passport photos. GPA MUST BE 2.69 OR HIGHER. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Barcelona, Spain I - Universitat de Barcelona (UB - Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Must have an Intermediate or Advanced level of Spanish (3 semesters or 4 quarters of college Spanish or equivalent for Intermediate level; 4 semesters or 6 quarters of college Spanish or equivalent for Advanced level). Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. Barcelona, Spain II - Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB - Summer/Semester/Academic Year) for all levels Must be at least 17 years of age. (If you are 17, you must turn 18 while you are in Barcelona.) Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Barcelona, Spain IIA - Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB - Semester/Academic Year) for Advanced & Superior levels Must be at least 18 years of age. Open only to students with an Advanced or Superior level of Spanish. Must have completed at least one semester of study at a U.S. university, college or community college. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5 (firm). Madrid, Spain I - Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have completed at least 1 semester of study at a U.S. university, college, or community college. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. MUST SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Requires 8 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5 for beginner level and 2.7 for intermediate and advanced levels. Madrid, Spain II - Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Summer) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 8 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Salamanca, Spain - Universidad de Salamanca (Summer/Trimester) Must be at least 17 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. (Applications from high school graduates who have not yet attended college are considered on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, official transcript, and a letter of intent along with the rest of their application materials. A GPA higher than the minimum requirement is expected of pre-college applicants.) Sevilla, Spain I - Universidad de Sevilla (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Must have an intermediate or advanced level of Spanish. Intermediate level requires 3 semesters or 4 quarters of college Spanish, or equivalent, including at least one high intermediate or advanced Spanish course taught in Spanish (i.e. high 200/low 300 level). Advanced level requies 4 semesters or 6 quarters of college Spanish, or equivalent. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5 for the regular program. Sevilla, Spain II - Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Semester/Academic Year) Must be at least 18 years of age. Open to students with any level of Spanish. Must have graduated from high school. Students who have already graduated are eligible for this program. Unofficial transcript is ok. Requires 4 passport photos. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.75.
